Reflecting can change your life.
How would YOU define success? How do you feel about your life in the quiet moments? Why are you spending time on the things you do?
Living intentionally.
For so many of us, life is something that happens TO us. Day by day, time passes us by —days turn into weeks, months into years. Reflecting gives us the opportunity to examine how our life is going. Is it how we want it to go?
“I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I have just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.” - Diane Ackerman
The ORIGIN ———
Growing up, my parents always made us take the last day of the year and reflect back on the year. I used to hate it. I didn’t want to feel the feelings it would dredge up. I didn’t want to ask hard questions. But the more I did it, the more I realized the power of this practice.
They’re not mind-blowing questions, but they are designed to reveal things in your heart. Everyone defines success differently - how do you define it for yourself? There are things we would like to say our values are — does the way we spend our time align with that?
It takes time for this practice to be valuable. It isn’t something you can rush through. But we’ve found that a habitual practice of reflection has made a significant difference in living fulfilled lives.
READ WHEN YOU NEED A BOOST:
The world needs what only you can give. Living fulfilled is more than just filling your days with things. It’s about filling it with the things that make you happy, that give you peace, and that make the world a little bit better. Fear is not something that defines you. You can do hard things. This is not to fluff you up, but to remind you that you are here for a purpose. It may look different than the person next to you. It may not even be something you DO. Maybe it’s something you are.
“Fruitfulness is not the same thing as productivity. Productivity is about what we’re doing; fruitfulness is about who we’re becoming.”
- Glenn Packiam
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
[Matthew 6:34]
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
[Philippians 4:7]
